All individuals qualified to teach at our school are certified by the Gracie Barra Instructors Certification Program (ICP). GB Instructors are held responsible to high standards of etiquette, instruction, and philosophy set by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and the Gracie Barra Association. Additionally, to maintain the integrity and focus on safety in our classes, all instructors are required to be CPR/Basic First Aid certified.
Pedro Dutra has trained Jiu-Jitsu for over 33 years. As a third-degree black belt, he has shared his knowledge and passion with students at seminars worldwide. A highly successful competitor with numerous medals, he brings the same dedication and hard work to every class he teaches. Born and raised in Brazil, he had the opportunity to own three Gracie Barra schools before moving to the United States.
For five years, he taught classes at Gracie Barra Pelham, Alabama, where he met many wonderful people and formed lifelong friendships. Today, he is honored to open and own a Gracie Barra school with his wife, Jacqueline, a black belt in her own right.
Welcome to Gracie Barra Trussville!
Jacqueline Dutra has trained Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra since 2013. She loves being on the mats, making good friends, and being a great training partner.
An athletic person since her teenage years, she fell in love with Jiu Jitsu not only as a sport, but also for the many lessons it offers: discipline, loyalty, persistence, and self-defense skills for life.
Together with her husband, she aims to share her experiences with the community and encourage as many women, children, and adults as possible to join together on the mats.
